The Beginning
I have decided to try my hand at blogging as a way to provide information about my accident, cancer and the treatment I will be receiving. But even more so, as a means of expressing my most sincere and heartfelt gratitude for all the love, all the attention, the visits and cards and flowers and telephone calls from so many people I can't begin to tell you how much it has meant to me and especially my family. There is no way that I will ever be able to express myself and my feelings - I never suspected, not in the least bit (and that is a fault I carry with me forever) that so many people cared so much for me and my family; So, throughout these blogs I'll from time to time comment on how so and so did such and such and how that affected not just me, but maybe Nate or Nick or Nora. I will try to bring everyone up to date on my medical treatment and what the future has in store for me. It will be tough. You can't see my tears. But I WILL BEAT THIS THING CALLED CANCER!

Lenny,
ReplyDeleteUnderstand that you, Nora and Nate have been a MAJOR part of my life and SO many others in this wonderful and unique city of Davis. Have you ever wondered as I have, how did we all find ourselves here to find each other as bonded and much loved friends that we all have become? My believe is that it is the "Powers that Be", whoever or whatever they are that brought us all together to make a community that really cares. We are all a family, and we all join together to support each other in good times and in bad times, with the comfort that we ARE there for each other always.
Just know that you have helped me so many times to "stay on track" and fought with me to protect this community that you, Nora, Nate, and all of us love. We all need your strength, integrity, and dedication as inspiration to keep us all "on track" for all the challenges that we will be facing.
I have NO DOUBT that you are with us for MANY years to come, my dear friend. After all, who else can I count on to keep me "on track"?
Lots of love now, and always to you, Nora, and Nate! And let me know if I can do something to help you for a change since you guys are ALWAYS helping me!

Lenny,
ReplyDeleteI best wishes are with you, Nora, and Nate--and the rest the community that loves you. You all have contributed so much to my life and all of the lives of those in our activist community. I wish the Flatlander was still being published so we could do an article about you, your accomplishments, your condition, and what any of us can do to help.
Lenny, as you know, I've had to deal with medical problems--3 hip operations and an infection-within the last 2 years. It was horrible, but I got through with the help of friends. Your problem is apparently much worse, but you have an even stronger group of loving friends and family to rely on.
Nora, you have always meant a lot to me. I'm glad I'm your friend and have always enjoyed working with you. I know these times are tough for you as well as for Lenny. You deserve support too. Don't hesitate to ask me for support--rides, shopping, conversation.
Lenny, you will beat this cancer! And I am glad to help!
Love,
Jim
